Sometimes, something as simple as a teddy bear can bring a much-needed smile during a difficult day.
With that spirit in mind, Sheehy Hyundai of Waldorf and Sheehy Hyundai of Chantilly partnered with Hyundai Hope on Wheels to bring comfort and support to children and families receiving hospital care.
Through this year’s initiative, the two dealerships donated a combined 700 teddy bears and $4,000 to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center and StoneSprings Hospital Center, helping support young patients and the healthcare teams dedicated to caring for them.
Small Gestures, Meaningful Impact
At University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, the Sheehy Hyundai team presented teddy bears and a monetary donation to the Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation. The contribution will help provide comfort to pediatric patients while supporting programs that benefit children and their families.
At StoneSprings Hospital Center, teddy bears were delivered to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through the Children’s National Hospital Foundation, extending a thoughtful gesture of support to some of the region’s youngest patients and their families.
While the donations were the focus of each visit, the meaning behind them went much further.
Hospital visits can be overwhelming for children and their loved ones. A small gift, a kind gesture, or simply knowing that others care can provide a welcome moment of reassurance.
The visits were also an opportunity to recognize the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who dedicate themselves to caring for children and supporting families every day.
Supporting a Mission of Hope
These efforts are part of a much larger commitment through Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a national initiative dedicated to supporting childhood cancer research and patient care.
Since its founding in 1998, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has invested more than $250 million in research and programs benefiting children and families across the United States.
With the participation of Hyundai dealerships nationwide, the initiative continues to bring together automotive retailers, healthcare organizations, and local communities around a shared mission of making a difference.
