Big smiles, colorful handprints, and an unforgettable finish line. Another Girls on the Run 5K brought the Howard County community together for a celebration of confidence, determination, and girl power!
Sheehy Toyota of Laurel was proud to participate in this inspiring event, continuing its support of Girls on the Run and its mission to help young girls build confidence, develop healthy habits, and discover just how much they’re capable of achieving.
A Colorful Tradition That Keeps Growing
One of the most memorable parts of the day was a tradition that’s become a favorite among participants: decorating the Sheehy truck with colorful handprints and messages.
As the girls added their own creative touches, the truck became a vibrant display of encouragement, personality, and community spirit.
More than just a fun activity, the handprints serve as a reminder that every girl brings something unique to the experience and that every step forward is worth celebrating.
It’s a tradition Sheehy Toyota of Laurel looks forward to sharing with participants year after year.
Celebrating Every Finish Line
The impact of Girls on the Run reaches far beyond race day. Through its programs, the organization encourages girls to believe in themselves, support one another, and develop skills that help them navigate challenges both on and off the course.
This season, the Girls on the Run community had plenty to celebrate:
865 girls crossed the finish line across three season-ending 5K celebrations.
20% of participants received scholarships, helping make the program more accessible to families.
Athletic sneakers were provided to girls in need, helping ensure participants had the footwear they needed to take part.
More than 200 coaches helped make the season possible, alongside volunteers, 5K buddies, family members, and community supporters who encouraged participants throughout their journeys.
Each finish line represented more than completing a 5K. It was a celebration of perseverance, personal growth, and the confidence that comes from working toward a goal.
Proud to Support the Next Generation
At Sheehy Toyota of Laurel, supporting our community means investing in opportunities that help people grow and succeed.
Organizations like Girls on the Run make a lasting difference by encouraging young girls to embrace their strengths, build meaningful friendships, and approach new challenges with confidence.
We’re grateful to the organizers, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and families who make these experiences possible.
Congratulations to every girl who participated this season! Whether it was your first 5K or another exciting milestone, you have so much to be proud of.
Here’s to colorful handprints, meaningful memories, and the confidence to keep moving forward, one step at a time!
