Sheehy Subaru Hagerstown recently showed their commitment to the community and the environment by participating in a humble cleanup event at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park, the city’s largest and busiest recreational space. On the last Sunday of April—while some people were enjoying their coffee and pretending not to see that pile of laundry—we sent a team of volunteers to pick up litter across the park.
Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park hosts thousands of visitors each year for everything from 4th of July fireworks and soccer games to dog parks and ice skating, which means it’s a hub for both fun and… well, a surprising amount of candy wrappers. Our team set out with bags and gloves and managed to collect over 570 pieces of litter, including the usual suspects: drink containers, napkins, and probably more than a few wrappers left behind by people who thought the wind would “take care of it.” While it wasn’t glamorous work, it was a small but important step in helping restore the park to its natural beauty, so it can continue being a great spot for people and pups alike.
We didn’t do it for the glory (though we wouldn’t say no to a “litter-free park” medal). For us, it’s all about being a good neighbor and pitching in where it counts. It’s a reminder that even the little things—like picking up a rogue chip bag—can make a big difference, and we’re proud to do our part to keep Hagerstown looking its best.
