On Saturday, August 9, Sheehy GMC of Fredericksburg and Pete’s Barbershop once again teamed up to host the annual Sharp Start Saturday—a beloved back-to-school tradition now in its third year. From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the team welcomed school-aged children, ages 5–16, for a free haircut and lunch to help them kick off the school year feeling confident and ready to succeed.

Pete’s Barbershop was buzzing with energy as students lined up for fresh cuts from skilled barbers, each leaving with a little extra confidence to bring into the classroom. Families also enjoyed complimentary meals served by the Kool Zone food truck, with kid-friendly favorites keeping everyone fueled and smiling.

“This event is about more than just a haircut,” said DJ Bruce, General Manager of Sheehy GMC of Fredericksburg. “It’s about giving kids that extra boost of confidence, showing families that the community has their back, and creating a positive start to the school year.”

Over the past three years, Sharp Start Saturday has provided free grooming and meals to more than 300 local students, thanks to the power of community partnerships and volunteer spirit. This year’s turnout was another strong reminder that small gestures—like a trim and a meal—can make a big difference in a child’s self-esteem and outlook.

Sheehy GMC of Fredericksburg looks forward to continuing this tradition and finding even more ways to serve the community in the years ahead.
